One of the common effects of child abuse is that a child will feel that they have no control of their life. Adults who partake in abuse use fear as a means of asserting power and control. Therefore, the adult is taking any control that the child may have had away from that child. The child will fear the abuser, and therefore meet the requests and demands of the individual who is inflicting the abuse.
One of the popular signs of child abuse is when a child develops psychological disorders and eating disorders, such as bulimia or anorexia. One of the effects of child abuse is that the child who has suffered from abuse will develop an extremely distorted and negative self image related to both their personality and their body. The child may resort to self-destructive means in order to try to remedy all of the problems that they see in themselves.
One of the effects of child abuse is that a child may find it difficult to find a sense of identity. They will doubt who they are, and they may no longer feel like the person that they thought they were. Another one of the common signs of child abuse is that a child may become so insecure that they become extremely clingy.
