The definition of the term emancipate is, “to free
from restraint, influence or bondage”. Child
emancipation refers to the legal process in which a child is discharged from
the care of their parents.
There are a number of ways that a minor may become
legally emancipated. The most common way is when the child reaches the age of majority
emancipation is in the child’s best interest.
